Acupuncture was developed in the Far East thousands of years ago. Modern technology has now enabled us to verify the amazingly precise accuracy and efficacy of this ancient therapy.
What health conditions can Acupuncture help?
Acupuncture has been used to treat a wide range of health ailments. It is highly effective for immune defieciency, an over-taxed nervous system, pain, addictions and even stress. Acupuncture is especially effective for chronic, vague, ard hard-to-diagnose conditions that do not respond well to orthodox medical treatment. Acupuncture can also be used in place of anesthesia during surgery, dentistry or caesarian childbirth, allowing the patient to remain alert without feeling pain or discomfort.
There are many Acupuncture variations including pressure, elecrical impulse, sonar, laser, heat or classical needle acupuncture. We specialize in classical acupuncture including auricular and electrical stimulation, using sterile disposable needles.
A breakdown in body function occurs when blockages or lesions develop along your body’s meridians. Meridians are your body's 'electrical conduits', or neural pathways. The Chinese refer to the electrical impulses, or life force energy as "Qi." (pronounced 'chi')
Lesions can be caused by intrinsic factors such as excessive emotions, trauma or stress, and by extrinsic factors such as injury, toxicity, diet, and poor posture.
Acupuncture applies stimulation to precise points on your body where meridians pass close to the skin surface. There are more than 1,000 of Acupuncture points on your body!
Stimulation of the meridians triggers the release of beneficial chemical proteins called neuro-peptides. Neuro-peptides have a powerful effect on dampening pain. NP's also prompt your body's self-regulating and self-healing systems and activate your immune system. At the same time, photons within your cells become activated, causing energy impulses to travel instantly throughout your body to interact with regulatory systems such as the endocrine and nervous systems. Toxins are released from cells to be flushed out by the lymphatic system. As the energy begins to shift and open, a greater amoung of energy and blood are circulated throughout your body, effectively nourishing it. Since emotions are also electrical impulses that travel throughout your body via the nervous system, Acupuncture can precipitate a re-balancing of your emotions, a feeling of greater calm, or an emotional release.

What happens during an Acupuncture session?
During your initial session an in-depth medical history will be taken, along with an overall assesment which involves palpation, observation of nails, eyes, ears, tongue, hair and skin. Detailed questions pertaining to physical, nutritional and emotional lifestyle will be asked.
After an in-depth analysis and an overall picture of the cause(s) contributing to your symptoms is made, specific acupuncture points will be carefully selected. You will be asked to lie down. Sterile disposable needles will be gently inserted into your skin and left for approximately 20 minutes. During this time you will be left to relax. You may experience tingling, a slight pinch, or no sensation at all. After 20 minutes, the needles will be removed and you will then be provided with a customized wellness protocol. Lifestyle coaching, which involves stress-management techniques, nutritional, physical and holistic approaches may be incorporated. Subsequent Acupuncture sessions may be required to optimize your results. Together we will decide your best treatment plan.
